Early-Red-Oak-Leaves

When first opening these leaves are flower-like in their appearence. At this stage the leaves are anywhere from 3/8 of an inch to an inch long. As they grow they turn from red to pink to green and before you know it Summer is here and it's time to light the barbeque. You can find the leaves at this stage for only about a week in the local woods. Some years it seems all of the trees burst out at once and these leaf-flowers are only around for a few short days.
