I was driving through Ontario above Lake Superior. Perhaps I was wearied from having spent too much time driving on pavement that day. I saw an obscure dirt side road that looked promisting and turned on to it. It wound on and on for about 14 miles and then petered out on the top of some mountain.
I didn't know exactly where I was, I didn't have a very good map. I turned off my truck and got out. The silence was deafening. Nothing could be heard for miles, there wasn't even a breeze rushing through the needles of the surrounding fur trees. To one side of where I stood there was a cliff. It fell off quite a ways and gave a spectacular view. this is just a section of the panoramic vista. |
