If you happen to be driving across Idaho between Missoula and Lewiston, you have the opportunity to take the same route that Sacajawea led the Lewis and Clark expedition over. It is a rough road, not for the faint of heart, that winds along the mountain ridges. Though for Lewis and Clark it was a "discovery," the Native Americans had known of and been traversing that route for hundreds of years. A slow, beautiful drive with grand vistas, deep woods and rocky summits. On the day I drove it, this fungus decided to explode forth from an old cedar log.
