| This is a thistle bloom about 4 days past the "sunburst" stage that another image here shows. The deep purples seem to bleed into the hard, green "leaves" that grow to enclose the fruit of the thistle, protecting the embrionic seeds until they are fully developed and ready to break loose into the late-summer breeze. |
