| This building was originally built as slave quarters in New Orleans. The slave quarters there are generally of this configuration. Positioned at the back of the lot. Built to a small footprint the rooms are narrow. I stayed in a number of hotels when I was in the french quarter. Some of the rooms I was in were once slave quarters. They are small, poor ventilation if any. For many the only opening is the door. 50, 60, 100, 200 years ago there was no air conditioning. The rooms must have been horrible and stifling during the humid, steaming summers. Nowadays, they have an atmosphere of quaintness. They are rooms to hire at $100 per night with little if any mention of their historical purpose. The air conditioners thrumming away in the walls remove all thought of the experience of past denizens. |

Wheatland Iowa Wheatland Iowa is on the old main road that was bypassed by the old highway that was bypassed by the interstate. Needless to say, people don't go there too much. The town does have a little bar that was getting some traffic at 11:00 am. no doubt they were
